Every summer thousands of people come to Finland to pick berries, work on farms, and do seasonal hospitality work. The jobs are real, the pay is honest, and you can apply directly — no middlemen, no fees. Paying anyone to connect you with a farm is a red flag — legitimate employers do not charge candidates.
EU/EEA Citizens
EU and EEA citizens can work in Finland freely without any permit. Just show up and start.
Non-EU Citizens — Seasonal Work Permit
Non-EU citizens need a Seasonal Work Permit from Migri. The employer typically starts the process. Apply at enterfinland.fi. Processing takes 2-6 weeks so apply early. Summer positions fill by March or April.
Where to Find Listings
- Tyomarkkinatori (mol.fi) — Finland official government job portal.
- TE-Palvelut — Employment services, also lists seasonal vacancies.
- Farm websites directly — Most farms have an English section on their site.
What the Work Is Like
Seasonal farm work is physical. Berry picking is piece-rate pay — you earn based on how much you pick. Experienced pickers earn 60-120 euros per day at peak season. Beginners typically earn 30-60 euros until they get faster. Accommodation is often provided on-site and deducted from wages at a fixed rate.
Apply between January and March for summer positions. By May most farms have filled their quota.
