Bachelor Degrees in Finland for International Students — Fees, Programs, and Applications

Finland offers bachelor degrees taught in English at universities of applied sciences (AMK) and some universities. Tuition is free for EU and EEA citizens. Non-EU students pay tuition fees that vary by institution and program, but scholarship options exist at most institutions.

Who Studies for Free?

EU and EEA citizens: tuition is free at all Finnish public universities and universities of applied sciences. Non-EU citizens: tuition fees apply at bachelor level, typically 6,000-13,000 euros per academic year depending on institution and field.

English-Language Bachelor Programs

Most English-language bachelor programs in Finland are offered at universities of applied sciences (AMK). The strongest programs internationally include:

  • Business Administration (BBA) — Available at HAAGA-HELIA, Metropolia, TAMK (Tampere), LAB University (Lahti), and dozens of other institutions.
  • Information Technology — Available at Metropolia, OAMK (Oulu), TAMK, and others.
  • International Business — Widely available across Finnish AMK institutions.
  • Nursing (English-medium) — Available at Metropolia, Seinajoki AMK, and LAB University. See the Nursing Studies guide for full details.

How to Apply

All bachelor applications in Finland go through studyinfo.fi — the national application portal. Application periods for autumn enrollment typically run from January to March. You create an account, select up to 6 programs in priority order, upload your documents, and submit before the deadline.

Scholarships for Non-EU Students

Many Finnish universities offer tuition fee waivers or partial scholarships for excellent non-EU applicants. HAAGA-HELIA, Metropolia, and LUT University all operate scholarship programs. These are not listed on studyinfo.fi — check each university website separately and apply for scholarships at the same time as your program application.

Apply through studyinfo.fi and check university scholarship pages simultaneously. Many scholarships cover 50-100% of tuition — the funding exists but you must apply for it separately.
